I began this painting with the Greek myth of Icarus and, and the idea of consumerism in mind. I drew parallels between the two concepts, thinking about how in a capitalist system, people are always reaching for the sun, and falling because they reached too high. And in a consumerist society, not matter how close to the sun we get, we are never happy.
